MUSHROOM WAR

It’s became common practice to lure children to the theatre with colourful decorations, costumes, synthetic and colourful world, that more and more reminds animation and looks like a slip in television. “Mushroom War” by Klaipėdos Youth Theatre is different, first of all it is circus-like. “Army” of thirteen gnomes on an empty stage creates lively synthesis of circus and theatre. Right in front of children eyes costumes are being transformed into spectacular infantryman and generals of mushroom war, actors disappear and re-appear on stage like in a magical circus cupboard. Songs, a capellas and even noise and rhythmic music compositions, created especially for the performance, gives an interesting and contemporary expression to the musical aspect of the poem.
