Performance reveals the situation of a young person in Lithuania and without anger, reproach or hate tries to portray his position in a country, where economics quite often play more important role than culture, morality, ethics and human rights.
R.E.M. (Rapid eye movement sleep) – is a sleep phase distinguished by intense, irregular breathing, rapid eye movement and relaxed, twitching muscles. This paradoxical state of sleep in a way resembles situation of a young person in Lithuania, that channels massive quantities of information every day.
Main character of the performance – young girl from Klaipėda, tires to answer many existential questions by herself. These attempts turn into comic, moderately dramatic situations, ideas and characters, that encounter each other at phantasmagoria full of absurd and black humour. Performance’s dramaturgy is based on an interpretation of authentic antique and Native American myths and legends, as well as dreams and memories of the authors.
